About Acne Scar Treatment

What is Acne Scar Treatment?

Lasers are high-technology devices that emit light at a single wavelength. Because they emit light energy at only one wavelength, the light energy sent is absorbed by only one colour and releases the highest heat energy in the area where it is absorbed. In addition, depending on how long the beam is delivered, it is also possible to adjust how the tissues surrounding the tissue that absorbs the beam will be affected by the resulting heat energy.

The beam emitted by Nd:YAG lasers is absorbed to the highest degree by the colour red. For this reason, when this laser is fired at the skin, the beams that pass through the skin without damaging it are absorbed by the red blood cells inside the vessels in the deep tissues and converted into heat energy.

The right method for you is decided together after an examination.

Since the light energy produced by Er:YAG lasers is highly absorbed by water, when these lasers are fired at the skin, the beam is absorbed by the cells in the very top layer of the skin and heat energy is released. For this reason, these lasers can be used in skin peeling and skin rejuvenation procedures, and they are also beneficial in reducing scars.

When the Fotona Dynamics platform, which incorporates Er:YAG/Nd:YAG laser systems at the same time, is used in acne treatment, it contributes to treatment through more than one mechanism. In particular, thanks to the laser beams absorbed by the overreacting sebaceous glands, it reduces inflammation in this area. It also slows the development of new inflammatory processes. It accelerates the healing process. With its thermal effect, it destroys sebaceous glands that have become excessively enlarged under the skin. However, since the hair roots in the treated area are also affected by the heat and will fall out, it may cause unwanted hair loss in the beard area, especially in male patients.

The best results are obtained by starting treatment with the Nd:YAG system and, after a general superficial skin peel, switching to the Er:YAG system for deep treatment.

Using the Er:YAG laser system in skin-peeling and resurfacing mode can provide clinical improvement in old acne scars.
