About Nasal Tip Aesthetics
What is Nasal Tip Aesthetics?
Nasal Tip Aesthetics Although aesthetic nose operations are performed to change the shape of the entire nose, and even to provide functional gain by opening the airway, some patients request limited changes confined only to the front part of the nose.
Anatomically, the nasal tip is made up of cartilaginous structures and forms the movable part of the nose, while the upper part of the nose is made up of the nasal bones and is immobile. Interventions made only to this movable part of the nose, formed by the cartilaginous framework, can be called nasal tip aesthetics.
With surgery performed only on this part, the nasal tip can be lifted, the width of the nasal tip adjusted and the curve of the nose made more defined. In addition, in patients with asymmetry of the nostrils (e.g. patients with a cleft lip and palate nose), symmetry can be restored with cartilage grafts placed in the nasal alae.
Because the surgery is performed on a very limited part of the nose and the bones are not intervened on with the bone-cutting procedures called osteotomy, there is almost no swelling or bruising during the healing period. In almost no patient is it necessary to place packing.
Because no intervention is made at the junction of the septal cartilage, accepted as the growth centre of the nose, and the upper jaw bone, the likelihood of the operation having a negative effect on nasal and facial growth is lower. For this reason, when it is really necessary, nasal tip surgery can also be considered in patients who have not completed adolescence.
