Translated from the original Turkish article.

Blepharochalasis is atrophy, loosening and sagging of the eyelid skin as a result of recurrent, painless attacks of oedema in the eyelid skin. In blepharochalasis patients, there is a problem with opening the upper eyelid due to the excess soft tissue in the upper eyelid, and the patient's visual field narrows when looking upwards.

Removing the excess tissue in the upper eyelid eliminates the problem and widens the patient's visual field. For this reason, although the operation performed is the same as aesthetic eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), the purpose for which it is performed is entirely to give the patient function and increase their quality of life. The aesthetic results at the end of the operation are not the primary aim but secondary gains for the patient.
