Our Publication Was Selected as the Best ScientificPublication of 2016 in Its Field

Among the articles I have published on this blog, one of the most read is the second article I published on the blog, titled “ On 30 December 2015 I received perhaps the most meaningful gift of the year ”. In that article I described how an idea that came to my mind in June 2012 went through a scientific process and was published in the January 2016 issue of the most prestigious journal in the Plastic Surgery literature, and what happiness this gave me. The journal “Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery” is the official scientific publication of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons; it receives submissions from almost every country in the world and only the most prestigious publications are accepted. That being so, the publication in this journal of studies carried out especially in the experimental field is an important achievement in the scientific arena.

This July, with a letter from the editor of the journal I mentioned, we learned that our publication had received the award for the most successful publication among all experimental studies published in the journal in 2016 (Best Experimental Paper).

In my previous article I had written: “Our residents honoured us by winning first prize in the competition at the annual Plastic Surgery congress they attended that year. In the end, our journey that began in June 2012 was completed with the publication of the study in the January 2016 issue of PRS, the most prestigious journal of the Plastic Surgery literature.” Even when it was published, no one, including me, could have foreseen that our study would make such an impact in the world. Once again I thank all the people and institutions who believed in us and supported us on this path, and all my team colleagues who walked this path with us.
